stump poisoning
Poisoning of stumps is usually done where the customer doesn’t require stump grinding as there may be plenty of room for replanting or simply they would like to leave the stump or make feature out of it. Stumps can be prevented from re-growing by the use of pesticides. This allows us to prevent the re-growth when removal of stumps is not practical or to the customers preference. All operatives hold NPTC PA1 & PA6 Pesticides qualifications for handling and to apply the poison to stumps.
We can either apply a liquid pesticide to the stump or via the method of eco plugs. (ecoplugs are small plastic capsules filled with granular poison)
When using liquid pesticides the stumps have holes bored into the top around the live wood area. The poison is then applied to this area and it sits in these recesses to soak naturally into the stump. (must then be covered if due to rain)
The use of ecoplugs is usually when within 1m of a water course. The stump is then drilled into the top around the live wood area. The ecoplugs are then placed in the holes and knocked into place with a small hammer. When doing this the eco plug compresses and the granular poison is then released into the stump.
